Death Logs In Blog Tour + Giveaway

Book Title: Death Logs In
Author: E.J. Simon
Genres: Fiction, Science Fiction, Mystery, Thriller,
Author Bio: Website ~ Goodreads ~ Twitter ~ Facebook ~
Disclaimer: I received this book from the author for the book Tour of Death Logs In. +Laura Fabiani iRead Book Tours #suspense #technothriller, @JimEJSimon @Nouveauwriter
Description: Some of the most powerful people in the world want to kill Michael Nicholas. Only his brother, Alex can save him - the problem is that Alex is dead.

It's been almost a year since Alex Nicholas, a Queens based underworld Boss, was gunned down. After Alex’s brutal murder, Michael inherited not only his brother’s business – but his enemies. Michael is now a key player in a world he once feared. By day, he is the head of a Fortune 500 company by night, the CEO of Tartarus, one of the worlds largest illegal gambling operations.

Before his death, Alex invested heavily in breakthrough artificial intelligence software so that he could live forever. It worked. In his virtual form, Alex can communicate with Michael and monitor information - and people - in ways the NSA would envy.

It is Alex who discovers Michael’s life is in danger. He detects plots that reach from the darkest corners of Queens, to the highest officials in the Vatican - and they all want Michael dead.

Michael is now in a race to save his life, but he is never alone - Alex is there to help him navigate through this maze of life and death. Also protecting Michael from the forces closing in around him is Sindy Steele, a beautiful - and lethal bodyguard.

How far is Michael willing to go to save his own life – and that of his family? Guided only by a familiar face on a computer screen, will the information Alex discovers allow Michael to go from being the hunted to the hunter?

I really enjoyed this book. It is the second book in series. I really do not go for these kinds of books. This one had me after a few chapters. It also has some twist and turns like in the first book. Alex is back and better. Alex helps his brother Michael out. Micheal deals with all kinds of things that are going on. He does things that his brother would have done if he were alive.

One of Alex's clients goes after Michael's wife Samantha. What makes Sharkey, the bad guy and his buddies go after her and still want Michael  to be dead as well? The murders take place around the world. We start to understand Sharkey and why he wants Michael killed. How can Alex do what he can if he's dead?

Is Alex alive and hiding somewhere or is he really dead? Donna is Alex's third wife.Though Michael and Donna get some shocking news about Alex. Sindy enter Michael's life. Things are just getting more interesting with all the things going on. Does Michael save his marriage? Alex is getting more information so can he help Michael?

Guest Post with Christina George

What I Want for Christmas by Christina George

Dear Santa,

Christmas is getting close and I realized I haven’t sent you my list yet. So here it is, and though I didn't ask for world peace, I tried not to be selfish. Though I do feel that authors-not-behaving-badly would sort of count towards the world peace thing.

  1. Realistic expectations: Last week I spoke with an author about her marketing, when I tried to get more information about the book, she said, “the only thing you need to know about my book is that it’s the best book ever written and will be an international bestseller.” All right then. Good to know. Please see #7.
  2. Less of 50 Shades of Grey: I know, I know, there’s a movie coming out so my hope for this is diminishing by the minute. But the other day I was in the store and they now have a 50 Shades of Grey branded wine. Really? Are you allowed to drink it outside of the Red Room of Pain? Over it.
  3. Please stop making stupid people famous. Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian. Really?
  4. Please stop publishing books by stupid people. ‘Nuf said.
  5. Please make Bradley Cooper drop his restraining order against me so we can finally live happily ever after and make babies and I can stop boring all of you with my blog rants.
  6. I want someone to create a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream that is almost orgasmic and totally calorie free. It seems like people have been spending a lot of time inventing a bunch of stupid “As-seen-on-TV” shit. Why do we need a light-up pillow? Aren't pillows for sleeping? Isn’t a light sort of counterproductive? And a zoom cooker for baked potatoes, really? Who’s eating so many baked potatoes that you need a machine to cook them in 9 seconds? If you’re eating that many potatoes, you may have a problem a fast-cooker can’t fix. Try the ice cream instead.
  7. Authors who understand that writing a book is hard work. It’s not like instant hot chocolate where you add hot water and “poof,” it’s a delightful beverage. A lot of authors feel that way about their book marketing. Publish, and “poof:” it’s a bestseller. Nope, sorry. Do nothing and poof, it’s number four million on Amazon.com.
  8. I love Christmas, but please stop putting up store decorations in April. Putting up Christmas crap early does not make me want to buy more. Does anyone really need a reminder that Christmas is in December? I think that most stores believe we are all morons.
  9. For people to stop using Facebook as a diary. Seriously. Most of the time when someone posts some odd, sad diatribe like: “Please pray for me, my life is a swirling black hole,” I want to remind them to stop being an attention whore and that this is a public forum and personal rants should be kept to yourself - and if they do end their life, to please will me all of their cool gadgets. Also, I want Facebook to create a “dislike” button. I would use this button several times an hour.
  10. For people to say thank you more. I know this sounds ridiculous and silly, but when was the last time someone just randomly thanked you for something you did? We thank the barista who hands us our coffee (you do, don’t you?), but when was the last time you thanked a blogger or reader for a review? Or thanked your marketing person for their hard work (even if they didn't make you famous?) Seriously. Say please, say thank you. It will change your life.

Ok so that’s it. Note that I didn't ask for a bunch of selfish stuff. Well, except for Bradley Cooper. But if you can’t give me anything on this list, then I’d like a house in the South of France. And minions. I’d like minions, too. :-)Kisses,

Kate

The Publicist Audio-book Spotlight + Giveaway

Book Title: The Publicist
Author: Christina George
Genre: Romance
Disclaimer: I recieved this information from +Laura Fabiani iRead Book Tours +Christina George
Where to Buy: Audible
Book Synopses:
Behind every book, there’s always more to the story.

Can one woman change an age-old institution like publishing? Probably not, but Kate Mitchell sure wants to try. As a publicist with a large, respected New York publishing house, Kate finds herself at the mercy of a broken publishing system, books that don’t always sell (at all) and author egos that are often, well, as big as the island of Manhattan.

Enter the star Editor, MacDermott Ellis. Tall, handsome, charismatic, married, and ready to save the day. Kate wants to do the right thing but her hormones seem to be driving her decisions. Then there’s Allan Lavigne, once a revered author, now as forgotten as yesterday’s news; and his nephew Nick, who wants to sweep Kate away from New York for another coast, California.

As Kate tries to navigate the landmine of publicity, the over-the-top author expectations, and the careful dance of “I’m sorry, your book isn’t on the bestseller list this week”, she also finds authors who are painfully overlooked by a publisher wanting more sex, more celebrities, and more scandal.

Author's Bio:

Christina George has worked in publishing for twenty years (give or take). Here’s what this book isn't. It’s not a slam against publishing (though it is broken) and it’s not a slam against authors (though some of them are crazy). This book is not autobiographical though many of the stories are true. No you won’t know which ones, cause it’s more fun to guess, right? George continues to work in publicity and helps authors because at the end of the day she does love books, she loves publishing, and she loves authors. She hopes you’ll enjoy this romp through Kate’s world as much as she enjoyed creating it.

TAKING THE REINS by Katrina Abbott (Book Blast + Giveaway)

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. One lucky person will receive a $25 Amazon/BN GC via Rafflecopter. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Brooklyn Prescott (if that’s even her real name) is the new girl at TheRosewood Academy for Academic Excellence, now that she’s moved back to the States after two years living in London. Rosewood, a boarding school for children of the rich and famous and known for its celebutantes, is missing just one element important to any junior’s education: boys. But luckily for Brooklyn, and the rest of theRosewood girls, there’s a boys’ boarding school, The Westwood Academy, just a few miles away.

On her very first day, Brooklyn meets Will, a gorgeous and flirty boy on campus to help with move in. But is he who she thinks he is? And what about Brady, the cute stable boy? Or Jared, the former child actor with his grown-up good looks who can always make her laugh? As Brooklyn settles in at Rosewood, she’s faced with new friends, new challenges and new opportunities to make herself into the girl she always wanted to be. Whoever that might be.

Taking The Reins is the first installment of The Rosewoods, an exciting new Young Adult series for readers who love fun, flirty love stories.

I stood there with the horse, petting his velvet nose, trying to absorb his quiet calm to help ease my jangling nerves.

It worked a little, until he returned, striding toward the outdoor arena, looking amazingly sexy in his riding outfit. Suddenly, like he was on a mission, he walked straight up to me. His eyes burned into mine and when he didn’t stop a few feet away, I began to panic.

Because I was suddenly sure he was going to grab me and kiss me.

My lungs froze on a breath. My heart began to race.

And then he stopped right in front of me, inside my bubble and close enough that I could smell him; leather, saddle soap, boy.

I looked up at him. His lips were turned up in a slight smile and then they parted. He reached up toward my face, his eyes taking me in with his usual intensity. My cheeks flushed, but ached for his touch. I licked my dry lips and swallowed, suddenly worried about too much saliva. I did not want to ruin this kiss. My eyes fluttered closed as he leaned in.

A survivor of adolescence, Katrina Abbott loves writing about teens: best friends, cute boys, kissing, drama. Her main vice is romance, but she’s been known to succumb to the occasional chocolate binge. She may or may not live in California with her husband, kids and several cats. Taking the Reins is not her first book. Visit Katrina online at www.katrinaabbott.com

Death Never Sleeps

Book Title: Death Never Sleeps
Author: E.J. Simon
Genres: Fiction, Science Fiction, Mystery, Thriller,
Author Bio: Website ~ Goodreads ~ Twitter ~ Facebook ~
Disclaimer: I received this book from the author for the book Tour of Death Logs In. @JimEJSimon, @Nouveauwriter +Laura Fabiani iRead Book Tours, #suspense #technothriller
Description: DO THE DEAD HAVE SMARTPHONES?

The problem with Alex Nicholas is that he won't stay dead.

Alex Nicholas was the consummate Queens bookie: fast cars and even faster women, and friends in all the wrong places. As an illegal sports betting and loan shark king in New York City, Alex was fearless-until the night his luck ran out and someone leveled the silver barrel of an automatic on him and pulled the trigger.

Michael Nicholas was everything his brother Alex was not: a powerful, married straight-arrow corporate CEO living the American Dream. Their two worlds collide when Michael discovers his brother's secret laptop.

As Michael crosses the globe to find his brother's murder, can he avoid his brother's fate? And can the information contained in the laptop help Alex reach out to help Michael-from beyond the grave.

Here is an excellent book. It has all kinds of twists and turns. I enjoyed the fact that it has an element of mystery in the book. The book has murdered in it. It also has some adventures. How can a dead person give answers and help out his brother from the grave? Is Michael's brother Alex alive or dead? You get swept up with this question and so many more. Alex communicates with his brother. Michael wants to help solve the mystery of his older brother's murder.

Why does someone want Michael and his whole family dead? Why did this person want Alex dead? Alex seems to be able to communicate with his brother and talk to him like he is alive? The plot is good. The places that Samantha and Michael's visits start to get more enjoyable to read. The adventures start to happen once they go on trips. Is death like that where you can be anywhere and communicate with family friends only if you are in a virtual world connected to a world before technology and a world after technology?

AEGIS RISING by S.S. Segran, Virtual Book Blast Tour

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. One randomly drawn commenter will receive a $40 Amazon GC. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Over a remote northern forest, a small plane carrying five teenage friends flies into a freak storm. Struck by lightning, the aircraft crashes and the passengers find themselves cast into a life-changing adventure.

In a hidden valley, a mysterious people gaze at the stormy sky as a glowing object with fiery wings disappears behind a mountain ridge. The astonishing sight reignites an ancient prophecy foretelling the arrival of five chosen ones destined to become bearers of light against a dark storm gathering on humanity's horizon.

In a distant city, a secretive organization led by a shadowy figure initiates a sequence of cataclysmic events designed to wreak havoc across the planet, beginning with a remote mining site in northern Canada.

As the three worlds collide, unlikely heroes arise. Armed with powers entrusted to them by the ancient prophecy and the resilience of their life-long bond, the five teens take a stand against a malevolent foe.

REVIEW: "Astonishingly imaginative and thoughtful. Aegis Rising sets a festive narrative table and makes the reader eagerly anticipate a sequel." ~ Samuel F. Pickering, Professor Emeritus of English, University of Connecticut & Inspiration for the film Dead Poet's Society ~

“That spot’s too small for this plane!” Kody pointed out urgently.

Six pairs of eyes frantically scanned the surroundings below.

“Aw, man!” Jag exclaimed. “The fire’s spreading in along the wing!” That was followed by another shout from the cockpit. “We’re losing airspeed! We have to land immediat—”

He was cut off by a loud blast. The right engine cowling burst apart. The plane was now trailing smoke and flame over the forest, no more than a thousand feet above the tree-tops. Like an injured dragon, the red Comanche bucked and twisted over alpine firs that punctuated the landscape.

About the Author:
S.S.Segran spent a good chunk of her childhood exploring the enchanted forest of a million tales in the mystical land of books. In her early teens, she began crafting intriguing new worlds and conjuring up characters who came alive with the flick of her wand... err... pen. With the publication of Aegis Rising in her senior year of high school, she was surprised by the abundance of time that magically appeared right after graduation. She plans to use this newfound resource to expand the arc of the Aegis Series. Her future plans include studying Cognitive Science at university and helping youths in developing countries realize their potential through the non-profit organization, Aegis League (www.aegisleague.org)

When not devouring a book or writing one, S.S.Segran can be found standing behind the cauldron of life, stirring a potion made up of chores, parkour, gaming, drawing, horseback riding and—having recently jumped off a perfectly fine airplane at fifteen thousand feet – perhaps skydiving.

House Broken

Book Title: House Broken
Author: Sonja Yoerg
Genres: Animals, Adult, Young Adult, Drugs, Mystery
Disclaimer: I received this book from First to Read for an honest review.
Description: In this compelling and poignant debut novel, a woman skilled at caring for animals must learn to mend the broken relationships in her family.…
For veterinarian Geneva Novak, animals can be easier to understand than people. They’re also easier to forgive. But when her mother, Helen, is injured in a vodka-fueled accident, it’s up to Geneva to give her the care she needs.

Since her teens, Geneva has kept her self-destructive mother at arm’s length. Now, with two slippery teenagers of her own at home, the last thing she wants is to add Helen to the mix. But Geneva’s husband convinces her that letting Helen live with them could be her golden chance to repair their relationship.

Geneva isn’t expecting her mother to change anytime soon, but she may finally get answers to the questions she’s been asking for so long. As the truth about her family unfolds, however, Geneva may find secrets too painful to bear and too terrible to forgive.

My thoughts: There a family mystery that Geneva does not understand. Thing go from bad to worse once her mother has an accident and need to recuperate. Geneva is relaxant to do so. Her husband convenience her to bring her mother in to stay.

Geneva start to investigate about the relationship between her older sister Paris and their mother. Geneva mother Helen has dealt with since her eldest daughter turned sixteen. There mother had to do something about it to stop what was going on. That thing see had to do is something Paris and her mother could not forgive her for it.

Ella and Charlies get themselves in trouble as well. Things gets worse after their grandmother comes to stay for a little while. Things start to startle Geneva while her mother starts to put some things together. It a fun read but not for children. It deals with teenage things and adult things. My rating is a  5/5 stars.

Interview Around the Globe with Joyce DiPastena

Today we have a new Author. Joyce DiPastena is an author that is working though a book Tour that I have now been a tour host for. Let welcome this new author to Interviews around the Globe.

I would love if you all took a look at our author Bio.. We have some good questions and answer for her to answer. Please  also I had the opportunity to read her lastest book called Loving Lucianna. I have a review on it here and we also got a giveaway as for all of you as well. Loving Lucianna Review But here is the author Bio for before we enter the interview.  We welcome Joyce to our community. #Interviews, #Interviewsaroundtheglobe, #NRC, #Giveaways, #medievalbooks #RomanceBooks @JoyceDiPastena and @Nouveauwriter, +Joyce DiPastena, +Laura Fabiani iRead Book Tours, +Laura Fabiani

Author Bio:
Joyce DiPastena dreamed of green medieval forests while growing up in the dusty copper mining town of Kearny, Arizona. She filled her medieval hunger by reading the books of Thomas B. Costain (where she fell in love with King Henry II of England), and later by attending the University of Arizona where she graduated with a degree in history, specializing in the Middle Ages. The university was also where she completed her first full-length novel…set, of course, in medieval England. Later, her fascination with Henry II led her to expand her research horizons to the far reaches of his “Angevin Empire” in France, which became the setting of her first published novel, Loyalty’s Web (a 2007 Whitney Award Finalist).

Joyce is a multi-published, multi-award winning author who specializes in sweet medieval romances heavily spiced with mystery and adventure. She lives with her two cats, Clio and Glinka Rimsky-Korsokov, in Mesa, Arizona.

Our Interview with Joyce DiPastena:

Describe your *Latest/Recent* book in 20 Words or Less?

Loving Lucianna: A Hearts in Autumn Romance
A secret from her past may destroy Lucianna’s second chance at love.

Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story (in this book)?

The idea came from a writing challenge on Facebook. A group I was in challenged all its members to write an autumn themed romance for a joint promo event this fall. I started batting around ideas in my head and the thought came to me, "What if I wrote a story about a couple in the 'autumn of their years?'" I had a pair of secondary characters from an earlier romance I had published ("Illuminations of the Heart") where a couple in their 40s and 50s had fallen in love. It was a very small part of that story, but I decided it would be fun to write this couple of story of their own and find out where their romance took them. That story turned into "Loving Lucianna."

How important are names to you in your book(s)? Do you choose the names based on liking the way it sounds or the meaning? Do you have any name choosing resources you that you?

Usually I choose names because I like the way they sound and certain names raise certain images in my head (blonde, brunette, redhead, etc). For "Loving Lucianna," however, since several of the scenes were set in medieval Italy and I'm half-Italian on my father's side, I decided to raid my family tree for the names of many of the Italian characters in the story.

Which of your characters (in this book) is your favorite and Why?
I think the title character, Lucianna, is my favorite in this book. I loved learning more about her and how she became the woman she was. I think she didn't always come across as a sympathetic character in "Illuminations of the Heart"--she could be a little prickly, a little temperamental and judgmental and haughty and proud. Now, with "Loving Lucianna," both I and the readers know why and how she became all those things. And I hope now that they understand her, she will win their hearts.

Was there a certain scene *in this book* that was harder for you to write than others?

I don't know that any of the scenes were harder for me to write than others. Some of the scenes between Lucianna and her girlhood friend, Elisabetta, did make me cry when I wrote them, just because their relationship touched me so.

If you could cast your characters in the Hollywood adaptation of your book, who would play your characters?

I get asked this question a lot, but I never have a good answer because I can never find actors or models who actually look the way I imagine my characters in my head. I always have very clear pictures in my mind of how my characters look when I write them. A writing friend of mine told me that was like my "superpower." LOL! Actually, I find more inspiration for my characters in paintings than I do in the movies. I've even put together a page on my website with some of the paintings that have inspired me in some of my novels. You can see it at http://joyce-dipastena.blogspot.com/p/art-gallery.html.

What was your favorite part to write and why? (Alternate Q: What is your least favorite part of the publishing / writing process?)

My least favorite part of the writing process is forcing myself to write when I don't feel like it. Because many times I don't feel like writing, but someone said to me once, "A real writer writes whether she feels like it or not." So when I don't feel like writing, I ask myself, "Do you want to be a real writer or don't you?" And the answer is always "yes!" So I push myself to write even when I don't feel like it, and the next day when I see that my story is progressing, I'm always glad that I fought my way through those "don't feel like it" times.

Just as your books inspire authors, what authors have inspired you to write? (Alternate Q: If you didn't like writing books, what would you do for a living?, What writing advice do you have for other aspiring authors?

Even though I don't write Regency romances and have never really wanted to, I fell in love with the Regency romances of Georgette Heyer when I was in Junior High School and read many of her titles over and over and over. When I first started writing, I think I copied her style, if not her settings, a lot. Gradually I developed my own style and voice, but I think many writers when they're starting out consciously or subconsciously strive to imitate an author who they admire. For me, in my early years, that was Georgette Heyer.

Do you read your reviews? Do you respond to them, good or bad? Do you have any advice on how to deal with the bad?

Usually when I first publish a book, I'll go read the reviews to see how the book is doing, but I confess that I don't deal well with bad reviews. Seems like one bad review can block out a dozen glowing reviews and make me think I'm the worst writer in the world. So I've learned that for my own peace of mind (and ability to continue writing) it's best if I try to avoid reading the bad reviews. I guess my skin just isn't thick enough. My advice on how to deal with the bad? (1) Just don't read those reviews--I mean the really bad reviews--if you can avoid it. There is rarely anything helpful in them. ("Medium" reviews might be helpful, but the super bad ones are usually not.) (2) If you can't avoid a bad review, then tell yourself, "That reader wasn't my target audience." Because it's probably true. The people who love your book are the people you are writing for, not the people who hate it. You'll never please every reader there is, and if you try to make a bad reviewer happy, you'll probably end up alienating the reviewers who liked your books before you "changed them" to try to please a bad reviewer. So focus on the people who like your writing and write for them with all your heart. They're the "audience" that you want to please.

What are you working on now? What is your next project?

I have a manuscript being beta read right now that I'm planning to publish in early 2015 called "The Lady and the Minstrel." It's also a medieval, but it's set in England in the reign of King John and while it has a strong romance in it, it's not purely a romance. I call it a romantic historical, because it deals with other historical and plot concepts and relationships in addition to the romance. But it starts with the romance and ends with the romance, and I promise it ends with a "happily ever after." As I said, watch for it in early 2015!
